JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for managing the Survey Team. The Survey Team is primarily responsible for writing and programming screening surveys that qualify respondents for various research studies and in-study questionnaires that gather data required for answering our clients’ business questions. This group works closely with a variety of other functions to understand the clients’ needs, to understand the data to be delivered, and to understand project timelines and any necessary risk mitigation measures.

 

This Survey Research Manager will lead this team through managing the team’s people, workload, vendors, quality assurance, and new capabilities. This position will also work closely with team members, colleagues in other functions, and outside vendors to fully understand our client’s objectives, craft effective solutions for each custom research event, and work to exceed our client’s expectations for their research with our company.

 

Primarily responsibilities include the following areas:

  1. Survey Team Leadership:   This role is responsible for creating a vision for the department that aligns with the Company’s vision and goals, for subsequently shaping the overall structure and direction of the department and leading the department’s activities.    
  2. Survey Management and Cross-Functional Engagement: This position will provide leadership to the organization by acting as the key consultant for the company on survey best practices, the application of techniques and use of related technology. Can make expert choices in how to design the most appropriate and effective survey, including selecting the best-fit technology; making decisions about design elements to increase participation or data quality; selecting a sample; and writing a survey instrument.
  3. Resource and Vendor Management: Evaluates company capabilities and capacity to handle the workflow. Makes recommendations on how best to structure the department, using any available internal and external resources, to meet clients’ expectations and complete the research project in the optimal fashion. Maintains close relationships with and knowledge of national and international sample vendors including study-specific partner selection and in-field management.

The position requires a high level of confidentiality regarding company and client activity. Notwithstanding the aforementioned duties, from time to time, this role may be required to take on other unforeseen roles and accountabilities as business needs dictate.

Minimum of a four-year Bachelor of Arts/Science degree. Relevant Master’s degree strongly preferred (e.g., MBA, Masters in Market Research, Research-based Social Science Master's, etc.).

 

This position requires strong technical acumen, critical thinking skills, and strong attention to detail to create well-thought out, flawless deliverables as well as to drive toward an innovative, efficient, continuously improving, and overall high performing Survey Team.

  • 8+ years professional experience in survey sciences (drafting and programming surveys).
  • Must have experience programming sophisticated online surveys using one or more online survey tools.
  • Strong pluses:
    • Experience programming in FocusVision's Decipher survey programming tool
    • Experience conducting online surveys and in-home use tests in partnership with national/international sample vendors. Includes managing vendors and respondent communications.
    • Market research or sensory science accreditations in surveys or related certifications.
