Food Safety Document Coordinator

Microbiology Food Safety - Livermore, California

 

Do you have scientific writing experience?  Do you want to use that writing experience to advance your career in Food Science? Then you should review our Document Coordinator position for our Microbiology Food Safety lab in the Livermore, California site.

 

As a Food Safety Document Coordinator you will draft protocols and help ensure documentation and testing is in compliance with client requirements as well as Food Safety regulatory standards. In this role, you should have writing experience in a scientific/ technical field. This role will also put you in a path for a food safety project management.

 

  • Draft protocols and study scheduling, as appropriate, using proposal outline or client-supplied information.
  • Maintain template documents and standard method/procedure repository
  • Review study data.
  • Communicate and interact with various departments within, as well as working in collaboration with clients.
  • Update and maintain project tracking systems, as appropriate.
  • Responsible for report preparation, including table and figure preparation. Compiles analytical information from laboratory groups.
  • Participates in and assists Project Leader with pre-initiation and other study related meetings, as required.
  • Maintain well-documented, organized and up-to-date study folders/files including study schedules, protocol/report, and correspondence.
  • Review audits. Submit audit responses for approval, as appropriate.  Follows up with appropriate personnel to ensure that all necessary report/raw data clarifications are completed within the specified time lines.
  • Review client comment and makes decision, including appropriate study personnel as necessary, to ensure that all relevant report/raw data clarifications are completed.
  • Responsible for report production through finalization, including archival of data as appropriate.
  • Assist with routine client visits, as requested.
  • Manage data transfer to clients, as requested.
  • Assist Project Leader in monitoring projects.

  • A bachelors degree related to microbiology or food science with an emphasis in writing (ex. English or Journalism) 
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of current food regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as, service skills (internal and external) including attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality and communication skills.
  • Skilled in concise writing. Writing should require little external review or edit.
  • Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, composition, and spelling according to company standard conventions.
  • Efficient use of word processing software, database, spreadsheet, and specialized software programs.
  • Efficient in managing time and prioritizing.
